How to draw

How to draw

How it works

  1. Add your entries

Paste names or @usernames from the comments, one per line, open a .txt or .csv file, or set a range of ticket numbers.

  2. Spin the wheel

The winner is drawn at random and the spin reveals it. Full screen puts the wheel and the prize on the whole screen for recording.

  3. Share the result

Copy the winners for your post. For a draw your audience can check, choose Checkable draw and post the announcement first.

Questions and answers

Is the giveaway wheel really random?

Yes. In a quick draw each winner is drawn with your browser's secure random generator. In a checkable draw the winners come from drand's public random number, published at the draw time. Either way every entry has the same chance: the winner is drawn at random and the spin reveals it. An entry listed twice gets two chances, so remove repeats if each person should count once. Your list never goes to a server of ours.

How can my subscribers check the draw?

Choose Checkable draw. Pick a draw time, lock the list and post the announcement before that time: it carries the list code (a SHA-256 fingerprint of the list) and the number of the drand round the draw will use. At the draw time drand, a public randomness service run by the League of Entropy, publishes a number nobody can know in advance. The winners come from that number and your list, and the proof link lets anyone get the same winners. The draw only counts if the announcement went up before the draw time, so check when it was posted. A list can't be locked to a time that has already passed.

How many names can the wheel take?

Up to 10,000 entries: pasted one per line, opened from a .txt or .csv file, or set as a range of numbers. With a long list the slices turn into colour bands, and the line above the wheel names the entry under the bolt as it spins.

Can I use it to pick a Telegram giveaway winner?

Yes. Collect entries in the comments or with a form, paste the names or numbers, and spin. The wheel can't see who is subscribed to your channel, so check that the winner is still subscribed before you announce them.

How do I film the spin for my channel?

Press Full screen: the wheel and the prize fill the screen. Start your phone's or computer's screen recording, press Spin or the Space bar, and stop once the winner shows. The ticks and the win chime can be turned off with the sound button.
